In short
- Entry thermal drone: about $3,000. Enterprise thermal drone: from about $7,8001.
- Drones that carry water or agent: about $14,000 to $84,000 per aircraft, or a multi-year contract1.
- The aircraft is often the smaller part of the bill. People and training are the biggest line item, then batteries, software, docks and maintenance.
- Caligo C360 is offered as a service. Our proposed starting price is $1,000 per drone per month.
How much do firefighting drones cost in 2026?
Typical US prices, as listed in Drone Launch Academy's August 2026 guide1:
| What | Typical price | Example or scope |
|---|---|---|
| Entry thermal drone | about $3,000 | Autel EVO Lite 640T |
| Enterprise thermal drone | from about $7,800 | DJI Matrice 4T |
| Suppression-capable drone | $14,000 to $84,000 per aircraft | Or sold on a multi-year contract |
| Entry program | $3,000 to $5,000 | An entry thermal drone, two batteries and a case, for thermal size-up on routine calls |
| Team-standard program | $10,000 to $25,000 | An enterprise thermal drone with spotlight, speaker, spare batteries and a tablet, for night work and a live feed to command |
| Drone as first responder program | $25,000 to $60,000 or more | Docked aircraft dispatched from the console, on scene before the first engine |
Prices change often and vary by country, dealer and package. Treat these as a starting point for a budget, not a quote.
Why do firefighting drones cost so much?
- The sensor, more than the airframe. The aircraft itself is largely a commodity; the resolution of the thermal sensor is what separates models1.
- Night and command features. Spotlights, speakers, spare batteries and a live feed to command move a department from the entry tier to the team tier1.
- Purchasing rules. Grant conditions and public purchasing rules increasingly steer agencies toward approved, NDAA-compliant hardware, which narrows the choice1.
- Payload. Lifting water or agent needs a much larger aircraft, which is why suppression-capable drones cost several times more.
Is it better to buy firefighting drones or subscribe?
It depends on how your service funds equipment. Buying suits a department that can fund equipment once and maintain it. A subscription spreads the cost over the year and puts updates, spare parts and support on the supplier. Either way, ask for the full cost over the life of the aircraft, not just the price of the drone.
